The Better Sleep Council (BSC)

The BSC is devoted to educating the public about the importance of sleep to good health and quality of life, and about the value of the sleep system and sleep environment in the pursuit of a good night's sleep.
--BSC Mission Statement

Established in 1979 as ISPA's consumer and education arm, the Better Sleep Council (BSC) prepares to celebrate its 25th year of success in building consumer awareness of the innumerable ways in which quality mattresses and the overall sleep experience contribute to healthier lifestyles.

Utilizing a variety of print, broadcast, and electronic communications tools, the Council strives to provide an increasingly diverse population with guidance for evaluating and making informed decisions about their sleep systems. In addition, the BSC's Media Desk regularly provides targeted information to editors, reporters, and producers working on mattress- and sleep-related stories.

The Better Sleep Council also offers tools and resources to ISPA members so they can expand and support their own consumer education program.

Better Sleep Council Canada (BSCC)

The ISPA Canadian Governing Council was formed in 1987 after manufacturers in Canada requested a separate group within ISPA to focus on issues unique to the Canadian bedding industry. One of the Canadian Governing Council's most ambitious efforts was formation of the Better Sleep Council Canada (BSCC), a consumer outreach organization with the goal of reducing the mattress purchasing cycle in the Canadian marketplace.

In September 2002, the BSCC was officially chartered by the Canadian government as a national non-profit orgazination.
