Strategic Plan

Building Member Value by Charting the Future of ISPA

ISPA is positioned as an extension of and complement to our members' businesses in facilitating industry objectives. The Association brings leadership to expand opportunities for its members--advocating cost-effective legal and regulatory solutions, creating and maintaining coalition partnerships, offering educational and new products forums, and being the first provider of critical information--thereby strengthening the market.

In 2002, ISPA’s leadership initiated a comprehensive effort to better define the Association’s goals and strategies for serving both the mutual and specific interests of its entire membership while also continuing to advance the bedding industry as a whole in the twenty-first century.  A Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) representing a broad spectrum of ISPA members and industry segments was charged with identifying the most important challenges facing the organization, and in suggesting changes and enhancements to ISPA policies, practices, and services.  ISPA members contributed their ideas and insights to the strategic planning effort in a one-day session at the Annual Industry Conference. Critical to this plan was a situation and competitive analysis of ISPA--drawn from the insights of manufacturers and suppliers.  These efforts resulted in the strategic plan approved by the ISPA Board of Trustees in early 2003.

The plan has been subsequently updated in both 2005 and 2006 (see links to documents below) and will continue evolving.
