ISPA Bedding Barometer
Check Your Company's Performance with ISPA's Bedding Barometer
Published monthly by ISPA, the Bedding Barometer provides actual sales figures for a large portion of the mattress business. The Bedding Barometer reports U.S. sales activity (including Puerto Rico) for 18 participating mattress producers. Based on ISPA's 2008 Industry Report of Sales and Trends, the participating producers represented 45.5% of unit shipments, which equaled 56.3% of the wholesale dollar value of those shipments. The Barometer provides monthly and year-to-date information, compared to prior year performance by the same group of companies, as well as regional breakdowns.
Each quarter, the Barometer reports separate data for sales of innerspring and non-innerspring mattresses, in terms of units, dollars and average unit prices. The Report also publishes data on key economic indicators that can affect the demand for consumer products, including mattresses (such as furniture and home furnishings store sales, producer price index for bedding, changes in real disposable income, housing starts, etc.) to help you track factors that can influence mattress sales and your profitability.
