September 2006 NAM Report
The National Association of Manufacturers, the Manufacturing Institute and the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI have published a study of non-wage structural costs imposed by government action on US manufacturing. The study analyzed corporate tax rates, employee benefits, legal costs, natural gas prices and pollution abatement costs, and compared them to similar costs in nine of our major trading partners. The Escalating Cost Crisis report shows that the structural cost disadvantage for US manufacturers is 31.7%, up from 22.4% in 2003. The study’s results are an alarming reminder that advocacy in Washington to remove these costs is critical to maintaining manufacturers’ competitiveness.

2009 Manufacturing and Wholesale Distribution National Survey
A comprehensive survey of nearly 1,000 manufacturers and distributors who responded to questions on growth strategies, innovations, cost management, technology initiatives, operations, and globalization to find out what steps executives are taking to grow their business and stay competitive. A sample of mattress industry manufacturers were also surveyed to see how they compared to the manufacturing sector at large.
