New Look for SPSC Safety Hangtags
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Federal Open-Flame Mattress Standard (16 CFR Part 1633) went into effect on July 1, 2007 and all mattresses made in or imported into the United States must comply with with the new law.

Safety Hangtags now have a new look and updated messages. What won’t change is the Sleep Product Safety Council’s continuing role working for mattress manufacturers as a watchdog for the industry – educating consumers about sleep product safety, building alliances within the safety community, and conducting product research – all activities supported by hangtag purchases.

Funding for the SPSC's activities is provided through sales of its safety hangtag for mattresses, which features important product safety information for the consumer.  These are available in a card hangtag and a flat permanent Tyvek®label option and provide your customers with valuable information on how to safeguard their families.

The new safety hangtags are available as:


  • a flat hangtag (pictured above, click image for larger view) that can be inserted with product-related literature provided for consumers, or attached 
  • a permanent, sewn-in Tyvek® label
