Bekaert Textiles
Bekaert introduces “silky cool” mattress tickings constructed with natural bamboo fiber, a fast-growing, renewable resource. Bamboo is a regenerated cellulose fiber that, when viewed under a microscope, reveals microgaps and microholes. “As a result, bamboo fiber produces a fabric with moisture absorption and ventilation properties superior to cotton,” the company says. Studies at Centexbel-Verviers, a Belgian textile research center, show that Bekaert’s bamboo ticking retains the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties inherent in the natural material, according to the company. Many Bekaert mattress tickings carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification. Oeko-Tex is a textile consortium based in Switzerland that audits and certifies manufacturers and their supply chains. Certification ensures quality-controlled and environmentally friendly production of fabrics.
