ISPA’s July 2012 Bedding Barometer reports that units and sales for the reporting companies grew by 15.6% and 16.3%, respectively, compared to July 2011. July AUP was nearly flat, rising by 0.6% compared to last year. In terms of year-to-date activity, January through July units and dollars increased 9.3% and 16.0% respectively, with year-to-date AUP up by 6.1%.

The Bedding Barometer reports U.S. sales activity (including Puerto Rico) for 18 U.S. mattress producers. The participating companies accounted for over 66% of the mattress units shipped and 75.5% of the wholesale market revenue for mattresses sold in 2011. The experience of these participants as a group does not necessarily reflect those of the entire mattress manufacturing industry. Furthermore, comparisons of Bedding Barometer results for different time periods can be affected by a number of factors, including differences in the number of workdays and holiday promotions in a given month, weather conditions, non-reporting manufacturers entering or exiting the market and other variables.
